If you’ve ever done any design work yourself or hired a contractor to do it for you (even though it is not their strength) you know that it takes a lot of fore thought and planning for everything to come together. And even though the intentions are for the best, the results are many times underwhelming.
This is what happens all to often when people try and save a couple of bucks by doing the design and style of the project themselves, instead of hiring a pro to help. We’re not saying you shouldn’t give it a go yourself, hey, it’s a lot of fun, just remember mistakes can be cost you a lot in time and money. While hiring a professional interior designer to work with can spare you disappointment and the cost of doing it over.
Take this bathroom renovation project for instance. Our client asked us to help him, which we did by directing him to an interior / exterior designer we work with once in a while (contractors are not designers). This designer then did an over all look and feel for the house with colors and materials. This rock floor in the photo was only settled on after an exhaustive search for the perfect rock floor. A rock floor with just the right mix of grey shades to compliment the smoke grey porcelain tile. The rock was also totally flat on the top (very modern look) allowing the glass shower stall wall to sit perfectly on it. The look is seamless, organic and beautiful.
Here’s the deal, the typical home owner just does not know all the resources available to find the materials this designer found, and without the experience not a clue how it all goes together. So by our recommending a designer to help, we make ourselves look good and the client very happy.
You should of seen the smile on the clients face when he saw the finished bathroom for the first time. Hope you found something interesting here. The Crew at Aim Higher Construction.
